Baby Shakespeare™ is an engaging exploration of vocabulary common to infants and toddlers through the words of twelve master poets and the vision of a master photographer. We've combined the poetry with silly puppet shows, humorous sounds effects, interesting real-world visuals and the music of Beethoven to engage your baby in a completely unique way. Learning opportunities encountered in the "video board book®" can be extended by reading and studying the traditional book with your child. The book can also be read prior to viewing the video to create experiences and develop knowledge that are reinforced in the sights and sounds of the video. Both "books" have been designed to expose young children not only to words, but to concepts like color, motion, behavior and words in written form.
Studies in the field of language acquisition and development have demonstrated that children learn to speak when they are spoken to frequently, and in positive ways. "Parentese," the name given to the sing-song way we speak to babies, has been shown to help babies recognize the distinctive patterns of speech. Teaching babies words in context and exposing them to the rhythm of language through poetry and song are wonderfully positive teaching strategies. Baby Shakespeare has been created to provide an extension to what you already do as a part of good parenting.
Speak and sing to your child throughout the day, encourage your baby to make sounds and respond positively to your child's attempts to say words. Elaborate constantly. Sit with your baby and watch Baby Shakespeare together. Use images that are not named in poems to teach words on your own, as you would when looking at a book with your baby. Have fun interacting and laughing at the scenes together.
