By observing your baby's play, even in the first year, you will get a sense of the types of toys that she likes. You might want to consider writing down some of both the interests and disinterest. Does your baby study one object for a long period of time, or does he jump between activities?
Once you've considered your needs, and your baby's preferences, you will have a much smaller universe of toys to consider, and the greatest chance of adding another beloved favorite to baby's toy chest.
