It’s never too early to start reading to your baby. Our site includes many materials to read to your baby, as well as develop language and early reading skills. Our 1st Library has all of the classic bedtime baby books, such as Goodnight, Moon, The Runaway Bunny, and The Big Red Barn. Even before approaching a full story, however, books in a box, or Chunky Board gift sets, have short stories and pictures for each letter of the alphabet. Cloth books, which can be put in a crib, also have pictures and some words but emphasize bright colors and many textures.
Early language and speaking skills can also be built through flashcards. Both Amazing Baby and Baby Einstein make flashcards for language discovery, including new words for animals, numbers, and shapes. Amazing Baby flashcards also come with read aloud text and instructions for activities and games. For babies and toddlers, the cards can be used for color and image identification, and, for preschoolers, they can be used to start simple reading skills.
