Playing with Soft Busy Blocks
While your baby lays on back or tummy, display the blocks close enough to gaze at. The contrasting stripes and polka dots will help your baby focus, as will the bright pictures with intricate patterns. Later, she'll begin reaching for the blocks, and their interesting textures and beautiful, rich colors will keep her attention. As she grasps and brings the blocks to her mouth for more exploration, the textures and sounds will keep her trying new things - like moving the block from hand to hand. Watch to see your baby make choices, as she learns which block makes a crinkly sound, which one jingles, and which one has a squeaker. See how fascinating she finds the shimmery fabrics. Other ways to play with Soft Busy Blocks
�Use a block to gently tickle your baby's tummy; softly stroke our baby's skin - cheeks, hands, feet - with the different textured blocks. (from 2 weeks)
� Help your baby focus and follow a moving object. Hold a block in front of your baby, and slowly move it across the baby's line of vision. Rotate the block so that a different side is facing your baby - each side seems like a new toy! (from 4 weeks)
�Choose the crinkly block. Watch how your baby locates a sound by crinkling the block while hiding it behind your back. Let your baby see that it is the block that made the crinkly sound. Move the block, and again crinkle it. Again, your baby will look to the sound. Reward the baby by crinkling the block and using your words to express your pleasure. (from 6 weeks)
�Pile the blocks on top of one another so that your baby can knock them down with a simple swiping movement. This is such a surprising and fun activity that you'll need to stack them again and again for repeated knocking. (from 2 months)
