These smaller toys can be easily grasped by little hands and pushed into any of the external pockets. Playing with Surprise Inside Elephant Your little one will find many ways to enjoy Surprise Inside Elephant. Younger children will like putting the smaller toys in the elephant's top opening and pulling them out. As his fine motor coordination becomes more refined, he will push the smaller items into each of the pockets and pull them out again. He will shake and bang these toys together, and transfer them from hand to hand. This play provides your child with opportunities to explore, experiment, and practice coordination and motor skills. He will like to hold the Surprise Inside Elephant by its handle and carry it along as he creeps, crawls, and tries to pull himself up. Name and talk about the smaller toys so your baby will hear the words. Although your baby is not saying words yet, she understands more words every day. The more you talk to your baby, the more she'll learn. Other ways to play with Surprise Inside Elephant • Label actions as well as items when playing with your baby. As she is putting the mouse into Elephant's top opening say, "Put the mouse in." (from 9 months) • As your baby gets older, label the color names of the toys as well. (from 12 months) • Your baby understands many words even though he may not be able to say them. Make up simple stories about Surprise Inside Elephant, baby elephant, and mouse. (from 12 months) • Pretend to feed Elephant the peanuts. Share the peanut with the baby elephant and mouse. Pretend to eat the peanuts yourself.
