Time's Up/Time Out animals are adorable. They help children wrap their arms - and minds - around the concept of time. You set the timer for 1 minute to 60 minutes. Young children don't understand the difference between 3 minutes or 3 hours. Transitions from one activity to the next are easier for everyone when the kids know it's coming. Learning to take turns gets better when the child knows it will be their turn again when the timer goes off. Time Outs are more effective as a reflecting period when they can hear the timer ticking away the minutes. Time limits on activities are set in advance with a clear end point.
